Get ready for some major traffic disruptions as Super Bowl LX approaches! The highly anticipated game between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots is just around the corner, and it's bringing some serious road closures with it.
The Big Game, Big Impact
In Santa Clara, near Levi's Stadium, you can expect significant traffic impacts on key roads like Great America Parkway, Tasman Drive, and Lafayette Street. These thoroughfares will be buzzing with activity, so plan your routes carefully!
Tasman Drive: Closed and Detoured
Tasman Drive, which runs right in front of the stadium, has been closed since January 28th and will remain so until February 13th. But don't worry, there are multiple detours in place to help you navigate around this closure. For locals, you can use Great America Way, Great America Parkway, and Lafayette Street, along with Calle De Luna and Calle Del Sol. And for those traveling further afield, Highways 101, 237, Montague Expressway, Lawrence Expressway, and North 1st Street offer a regional detour option.
Pedestrian Access: Light Rail to the Rescue
If you're on foot, be aware that sidewalk access on Tasman Drive near the stadium is also closed. The good news is, the VTA Light Rail between Great America and Lick Mill stations can help you bypass this closure. It's a much quicker option compared to the longer pedestrian detours available.
Trail Closure: San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail
The San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail, which runs in front of the stadium, is also closed to pedestrians and cyclists until Tuesday. So, if you're planning a stroll or a bike ride, you might want to choose an alternative route for now.
More Closures on Game Day
On Sunday, Great America Parkway between Patrick Henry Drive and Bunker Hill Lane will be closed. And on game day itself, the closure on Tasman Drive will be extended to Old Ironsides Drive and Lick Mill Boulevard. Additionally, pedestrian access on Tasman between Convention Center and Calle Del Sol will be restricted to staff and Super Bowl ticketholders.

San Francisco and San Jose: Road Closures Too
San Francisco and San Jose are also experiencing road closures for game-related events. In San Francisco, various roads will be closed until February 10th, including Howard Street, Folsom Street, 3rd Street, 4th Street, Jessie East Street, Jessie Street, Minna Street, and more.
In San Jose, San Carlos Street between Almaden Boulevard and Market Street will be closed in both directions until Monday. Lane closures are also in place between San Carlos and San Salvador streets. However, access to the Hilton Hotel and the San Jose McEnery Convention Center will be maintained.
Additionally, Humboldt Street will be closed between South 7th and South 10th street for a few hours on Saturday, as the Seahawks practice at San Jose State University's fields.
So, football fans and commuters alike, be prepared for these road closures and plan your journeys accordingly!
And this is the part most people miss: the impact of these closures extends beyond just game day. It's a reminder of the massive logistical operation that goes into hosting such a major sporting event.
